132. Staying Top Of Mind and Increasing Sales With Email Marketing
44% of people give up after one contact attempt when reaching out to a lead.
That’s almost half of the people out there.
Nearly half of your competitors are stopping before they even get a foot in the door.
In fact, it can take up to 8 touchpoints to even get the first call with a potential customer.
That my friends is what we call GOOD news. Why?
Because this is the EXACT reason email marketing is your ally when it comes to increasing sales in your business.
It is the perfect tool to keep you top of mind with your potential customers in a value-added way.
Yet, people steer away and aim toward the more inviting options like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok.
I’m not saying social media isn’t important – but what is more important is people off of platforms you don’t have any control over and into something you do, like your email list.
This week’s podcast episode breaks down three steps to ensure you remain top of mind with your hottest prospects, as well as though who don’t even know they need you yet.
Tune in to catch the entire show here.
Did you know that only 4% of people who engage with your brand are even ready to buy?
A study by IRC Sales Solutions showed that 56% of people aren’t ready to buy and 40% are only beginning to research solutions.
This presents an enormous opportunity for you when it comes to email.
The more you can find out about your customers and stay in front of them, the more likely they will:
1. Trust you because you’ve been feeding them tools, tips and information regularly (more on that in a second)
2. Buy from you, because they trust you and you stuck with them for the long haul.
“Marketing is an exercise in memorization.” -Donald Miller
If you don’t stay top of mind, people will forget about you and move on to someone else who can solve their problem. Leaving all of your work for nothing.
So how can you stay top of mind?
#1 – Be consistent.
This seems so easy, and you may have heard it before. But did you know it is the #1 reason email marketing doesn’t work?
Here’s the thing, people aren’t going to read every email you send. In fact, the latest open rates for email are somewhere around 20%, meaning 80% of your people are reading them.
But you never know when someone will open up your email and be ready to take the next step.
So by emailing your subscribers at a regular frequency your sales percentage automatically increases.
Pick a schedule and stick to it. Once a week, once a month. Whatever you choose, just keep showing up.
And every time you send a marketing email, include valuable content that will build trust and the relationship. Last but not least, start conversations by asking open-ended questions.
#2 – Tag your subscribers and send them custom content.
When you can deliver content to someone that they have asked for, the magic begins. You can also segment people who are interested in a specific area that contains multiple tags. In this week’s episode I breakdown a couple of examples. Tune in here to catch all the details that simplify tagging and segmenting.
The easiest way to understand this is to think about the library. When you go to the library there are sections (these are segments in email marketing) like:
- Fiction
- Non-fiction
- Reference, etc.
Under each of those sections are different genres of writing (these would be tags in email marketing) like:
- Fiction
- Mystery
- Horror
- Romance
- Non-fiction
- true crime
- biology
- Philosophy
- Reference
- Dictionary
- Encyclopedia
- Medical
The segments tie everything together, the tags are specific areas of interest. You can create emails for either or both.
#3 – Deliver content and measure results.
If you aren’t tracking what is working, how will you know it’s working? This is the #1 question I ask people when we being talking about their email marketing. Roughly 85% of people have no idea. They don’t know what to measure or where to look for information.
This isn’t something to be embarrassed about, you don’t know what you don’t know. There are 4 key metrics to look at when measuring the success of your email marketing they are:
- Open rates
- Click-Through Rate (CTR)
- Unsubscribe rate
- Purchase rate

Looking for a way to stay in front of your audience on your terms?
One of the best ways to do that and to take control of your audience is through email marketing. Email marketing is the best way to stay in front of and sell to your audience. But so many people struggle with how.
This is why I created the Email Breakthrough Academy (EBA) your step-by-step system to create lip-smacking emails that people open, read and respond to. Keeping you in front of your audience, until they are ready to buy and then badda-bing, badda-boom there you are, – top of mind.
Currently, EBA isn’t open for enrollment, but it will be soon (coming March 23rd). To get on the list and be the first to know when the doors open, click here to join the waitlist.
Until next week, be well, stay safe and take care!
